Helios 44-2

Posted on 2015/02/232015/03/13

Bought this from taobao and I’m very happy with the spiral bokeh. This lens is extremely cheap considering its unique feature/flaw.

Here, I just want to quickly demonstrate the sharpness of this lens. The edges are obviously softer. Here I take a picture off my computer screen. The characters around edges are blurred badly. Don’t get me wrong though, this 58mm lens plus a 1.5x magnification on my NEX5 is mainly used for portrait. Edge sharpness really isn’t that important.

To generate such a screen, use the command
ø dd if=/dev/urandom bs=1M count=2 | base64 | tr -d [\\n]
